Queen carnival

Details

DescriptionAlmost certainly a war related parade, 1939 - 1945. The truck dates from around this period. The young woman dressed in royal regalia suggests a queen carnival which were popular fund raising events in both world wars. Half a dozen or so candidates for Queen would be supported by a team of fundraisers who organised concerts, bazaars and other activities. The candidate raising the most money would be crowned in an elaborate ceremony. Geotag^[1]
