DescriptionThe far machine is for truck tyres, and could apply loads up to 3 tons to a single tyre; the nearer one could test two tyres at once, one on either side of the road wheel, and could apply loads up to 1/2 ton. Most tests were on car tyres, not cycle. The machines are stopped while Dennis Osborne is checking tread temperature.
The machines were later moved from this point in the factory to a lean-to, and discarded when atmosphere conditions had to be more closely controlled, in the 1980s; testing moved to Australia.ThemeDunlop Tyre Factory
