DescriptionSoldiers' war memorial, Manchester Square, Feilding HistoryAs recorded in the Evening Post, the Feilding Soldiers' Memorial was unveiled by the Governor-General Viscount Lord Jellicoe on 3 October 1923. "He was met by the Mayor (Mr. J. S. Tingey) and other district representatives, and escorted to Manchester square, where the Territorials formed a guard of honour. Several thousand people were present for the ceremony. The monument is a New Zealand marble pedestal surmounted by a winged figure of Victory (of Italian marble).
