The Lee-Enfield rifle's standard sights were calibrated to 1900 yards (1.7 km); the rifle at at right also has a rotary foresight on the side of the stock, calibrated to 2700 yards (2.5 km!) and used with an aperture hinged on the safety-catch axis; there was little chance of hitting a target, but a good chance of causing fright.
