On occasions, tanker drivers would misjudge the space available, pre-set the amount to be delivered, and come back to an overflow; the results are visible, but the overflow was trapped in the concrete-block 'bund' surrounding the tank.

The one serious leakage occurred when a contractor used plastic tubing on a minor pump connection; either the tube became brittle, or it softened with heat; either way, it burst. Somebody had left the bund's drain valve open; the oil flowed into the storm-water system, and then into an open creek; it was noticed before it reached the Hutt River, and contractor John Dillon and the company were praised for their ensuing clean-up.
