Photographer UnknownDescriptionThere are two Francis Shaw mills visible here, with rollers 60 inches (1.5 m) wide and 22 inches (560 mm) diameter. There was a third mill to the left; all three were driven by a 300-horsepower (225 kW) motor.
The middle mill took rubber warmed by the hidden mill, and fed a continuous strip to the fabric calender.
The far mill fed rubber to the four-roll 'insulation' calender, which could be fed with a second compound by the conveyor coming from top right.Date taken2000sThemeDunlop Tyre Factory
